Bard® Ventralex® Patch Umbilical Technique
The Bard Ventralex patch technique is a quick way to fix umbilical hernias. The surgeon makes a small incision (2 to 4 cm) and slides the patch into place. The patch is specially designed to lie flat against the abdomen and requires fewer sutures. This patch helps reduce the risk of the hernia coming back. This procedure is done in less than an hour and requires general anesthesia. Like any surgery, there us always a chance for complications, like infection or hernia recurrance. Your physician will discuss these with you prior to surgery.
